This is just the sort of thing I see on a regular basis that can lead to a car being severely damaged or worse, someone getting seriously injured. No wire, large or small, should EVER be ran though an opening in sheet metal, without a grommet or some other protection to keep vibrations and similar conditions from cutting through the insulation, shorting out the wire and or producing enough heat to ignite the surrounding materials. In the case of the wire in the picture, if it were to short out, it would take over 100 amps of current draw to blow the breaker. That’s a lot of fire producing power. If you think this work was done on a low budget build, you’d be wrong. This was work done on a six figure build, by an otherwise reputable shop. What I’ve learned, is that many shops are weak in there understanding of proper wiring practices which insure safety and reliability. We’re here to help.
